This custom wedding invitation suite was designed to celebrate a Downtown Toledo wedding through romantic, location-driven watercolor illustration.
Centered around the city skyline at night, the design captures both place and sentiment—creating a meaningful, story-driven suite for the couple and their guests.
Project Overview
The goal of this project was to create a personalized invitation suite that reflects the couple’s connection to Toledo while maintaining an elevated, timeless feel.
By incorporating recognizable city elements alongside a romantic visual theme, the suite becomes both a keepsake and an introduction to the wedding experience.
Design Approach
The design centers around a custom watercolor illustration of the Downtown Toledo skyline at night—featuring deep blue tones, soft lighting, and reflections along the river.
A moon detail with the phrase “to the moon and back” adds a romantic focal point, tying together the emotional tone of the piece with the nighttime setting, while making an art piece guests can frame and keep.
Additional riverfront scenes were incorporated throughout the suite, bringing depth and variation while reinforcing the location-based storytelling.
The color palette leans into layered blues, creating a cohesive and atmospheric look, while the watercolor technique adds softness and movement. Typography remains clean and classic to balance the illustrative elements.
