Hocking Hills Camping-Inspired Wedding
Set in the natural landscape of Hocking Hills at Crockett’s Run, this custom wedding invitation suite was designed to reflect a love of the outdoors, personal storytelling, and a shared connection to place.
The couple wanted something entirely non-traditional—an invitation suite that captured their personalities, their cats, and the experience of their wedding weekend.
Project Overview
This project focused on creating a fully custom, illustration-driven wedding suite that extended beyond paper goods into a cohesive visual system for the entire event.
Every piece—from the save the date to day-of signage—was digitally illustrated and designed to work together, creating a unified experience that carried through the wedding from first impression to final details.
Design Approach
The design direction was rooted in a camping-inspired aesthetic, drawing from the natural surroundings of Hocking Hills while incorporating personal elements unique to the couple.
A custom digital illustration style was developed using expressive linework paired with filled color—intentionally imperfect and detailed to create a handcrafted, approachable feel without relying on traditional watercolor techniques.
The color palette of sage green, evergreen, beige, rust, and blush reflects the surrounding landscape, grounding the suite in its environment.
Illustrations played a central role in storytelling across each piece:
A save the date featuring the couple and their four cats
An A-frame cabin illustration of the venue
Arbor and ceremony-inspired invitation artwork
Camp-themed icons like lanterns, pennants, and campfire scenes
A custom venue map highlighting key locations
Playful RSVP details incorporating the couple’s cats
Each element was designed to feel cohesive while still offering moments of personality and discovery throughout the suite.
